Filming diary

George Watkins

21st of March 2016 at approximately 4:30pm we began to start the filming process for our film opening, admittedly a few days later than schedule.

We began by laying out the all of the mise in the scene for example we used the police tape to section of an area of our chosen location of which we put inside, the evidence cards with each piece of evidence; wallet, phone, headphones. After laying out the scene we gathered all actors to feature in our film and began to go through what happens during the film. After all the setting up was complete we went on to shoot the first scene which was the establishing shot and this was at about 4:50. This shot didn’t take too long once finding the right angle and distance we wanted for the shot.
For our first day of filming we managed to get almost half of the filming done which ended at 6:00 as we didn’t want to film any later then this as we had to consider the lighting as it gets darker the later it gets so we would then have to film the rest on the next day at a similar time to try and get the same lighting.
On the first day we all had our go at filming; on the left hand side is me (George Watkins) doing the tracking over the shoulder shot of the detective walking towards the real crime scene. In the middle is an image of Nathan Copping continuing on with more tracking of the detective before his identity is revealed and on the left hand side is Billy parker filming the scene where the detective and police office go under the police tape to look at the evidence in the scene.

The next day, 22nd of March 2016, we continued our filming and also managed to finish, we started the filming again at around 4:45 after we have set up the scene again in the same way as we had the previous day. In the next 1 hour and 45 minutes we took to film the rest of our film opening we once more evenly distributed the camera work so we all had a go at filming different shots and different cuts.

Editing.

just like the filming we all had our own turns at editing different bits of the clip in order to produce our first rough cut for our film. you can see all of our group members getting into the thick of editing in the images below. we had several hours across 2 days to edit our clip for our first rough cut.
